More than 50% of individuals residing in Assisted Living residences are living with some form of Dementia. While the statistics are staggering and estimated to grow exponentially over the next 20 years, many state Regulations have not been raised to require care appropriate for the higher level of need of those with Alzheimer's and other types of memory impairment. In fact, most states do not consider facility based memory care to be health care.
While the facilities in your neighborhood may be compliant with state Regulations, those requirements are often well below the standards of care that most of us would want for ourselves and our families.
Trusted Memory Care was founded in an effort to raise the bar in the standards of care for individuals with memory impairments. When it was apparent that state Regulators were not going to bat for individuals afflicted with Alzheimer's and other types of Dementia, Trusted Memory Care called on the Assisted Living industry to step up to the plate by voluntarily participate in a quality initiative that raises the quality of care provided across five categories:
Memory Care Communities participating in the Trusted Memory Care Quality Initiative may earn three distinct levels of TRUST ratings based on their efforts in the five categories listed above. Bronze, Silver and Gold Standard facilities are providing care that goes above and beyond what the government expects of them.
Likewise, Home Health and Hospice care organizations may obtain quality care certifications by enrolling their employees in continuing education that certifies them as "TRUSTED" providers.
